Terming statements of Uttar Pradesh minister Mohammad Azam Khan as derogatory and irresponsible, Governor Ram Naik has written to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav asking him to take immediate action against Khan.
In a two-page letter to the CM, Naik expressed objections and said Khan’s statements were unconstitutional, indecent and irresponsible.
Naik wrote, “Statements passed by UP cabinet minister Azam Khan on December 9 reflects that I am providing shelter to criminals, dacoits, and history- sheeters in Raj Bhawan.”
“He (Khan) was probably objecting to my meeting with district Rampur Congress Committee general secretary Faisal Khan lala. Therefore, Mohammad Azam Khan blamed me with such serious charges,” Naik wrote in letter.
Few days back Faisal, who runs a business in Rampur, had met Governor and informed him about persecution by Azam Khan. He had submitted a memorandum to the Governor which was passed on to the state government for action.
The Governor further wrote : “General public as well as political personalities comes to meet me at Raj Bhawan from time to time and in same sequence Faisal Khan lala met me which is never against my common courtesy, constitutional and official obligations.”
Attaching news paper clippings with the letter, Naik said that he expected that the CM would take the matter seriously and “will perform his constitutional duty to protect dignity and decorum of constitutional authority like Governor.”
This is the second time that the Governor has written to the CM asking him to take action against Khan. Earlier in April 7, 2016 Governor had written to the Chief Minister in connection with the use of unparliamentary remarks by minister Azam Khan against him inside State Assembly.
During a debate inside the House, Khan had used some words against the Governor while questioning as to why Naik had stalled the Bill on Nagar Nigam. The contents were later removed from the proceedings of the House.
