The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the proposal to construct Ram Janmabhoomi Corridor in Ayodhya akin to the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor to add to the grandeur of the temple. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Tuesday.
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh told reporters that the cabinet approved the proposal of construction of the Ramjanmabhoomi Corridor at the cost of Rs 797.69 crore, including Rs 378.77 crore for acquiring land.
“The proposal to widen Saadatganj-Nayaghat road under the beautification scheme in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya has been approved. The Public Works Department will carry out the construction work and the acquisition of land and buildings should be done through CALA (Competitive Authority of Land Acquisition),” the minister said.
“Once the road is constructed, it will pave the way for easy movement of pilgrims and, in turn, will lead to tourism promotion in Ayodhya,” he added.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to expand the limits of Varanasi Municipal Corporation by including the entire area of Sujabad Nagar Panchayat and Ramnagar Nagar Palika Parishad in it.
“With the expansion of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation limits, better basic infrastructure facilities will be available to the residents of the areas to be included in it,” Urban Development Minister AK Sharma said.
“This expansion will also increase the income of the municipal corporation,” he said.
The cabinet also approved the proposal for extension of the boundary of the Municipal Council of Bulandshahr, Anupshahr, Municipal Council of Ghaziabad, Modinagar, Muradnagar and Loni, Municipal Council of Shamli, Kairana and Municipal Council of Muzaffarnagar, Khatauli.

In another decision, the cabinet approved the proposal to operate the regional centre/campus of the National Defence University, Gandhinagar, on the campus of Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University till the infrastructure for the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences is ready.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Home department and the department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. It will be a 3-year contract under which Dr Shakuntala Mihra National Rehabilitation University will provide accommodation free of cost.
To provide skilled personnel in the field of national security agencies and police service, research, training and issues of national importance, National Defense University was established in Gandhinagar in 2020.
Yogi had requested the vice-chancellor of National Defence University to establish their regional centre/campus in Uttar Pradesh. It was decided that the centre would be set up in the premises of Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences for which 5 acres of land has been reserved.
“Till the UP Institute of Forensic Sciences is established, the cabinet has decided that the regional centre of National Defence University will be set up at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University,” a spokesman said.
