After Sri Sri Ravishankar and others offered mediation in the vexed Ram Janmabhoomi-Bbari Masjid issue, Union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment Ram Das Athawale too joined the bandwagon announcing a new compromise formula to resolve the issue.
Athawale floated a formula saying that of the total disputed area of 65 acres of land in Ayodhya, Hindus should be given 40 to 45 acres for construction of a grand Ram temple and the rest be given to Muslims.
"If there is an objection for a mosque near Ram temple then the Muslims should construct a university or a hospital at that place," he told reporters in lucknow on Wednesday.
The Union minister announced that he would meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the Ayodhya issue and would impress upon him to agree to his compromise formula.
“There is a need for a permanent solution to the Ayodhya issue and if Hindus and Muslims sit and resolve the matter, it would be better for the society," he said.
Athawale said that both communities want a peaceful solution to the issue, and it can be achieved only through a compromise.
Earlier, Art of living guru Sri Sri Ravishanker was also working to resolve the Ayodhya issue and even met Yogi Adityanath in Gorakhpur on Tuesday.
UP Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi too has submitted a formula in Supreme Court saying that a mosque be built in lucknow instead of Ayodhya and the disputed land be given to the Hindus for Ram temple.
