Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will address party’s Parivartan Yatra in Kairana on November 7 – the place which was in the eye of storm over allegations of mass exodus of Hindus because of their persecution by criminals of that area.
BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that Singh will flag off the yatra in Kairana on November 7 and will address the party workers the same day. “Singh was earlier supposed to attend the yatra on November 6 but will now receive it at Kairana on November 7 because of his earlier commitment,” he said.
The BJP is carrying out four Parivartan Yatras. The first yatra will start from Saharanpur on November 5, followed by next yatra on November 6from Jhansi in Bundelkhand, the third leg is from Sonebhadra on November 8 and the last leg is from Ballia in eastern UP on November 9. Traversing across Uttar Pradesh all these yatras will culminate in lucknow on December 24 in a massive rally to be addressed by the Prime Minister.
The yatra that will start from Saharnpur will reach Kairan on November 6. The next day it will start for onward journey after it is being flagged off by Union Home Minister.
Singh’s Kairana visit assumes importance because of report of mass exodus of Hindu traders from this area. The issue was first raised by BJP MP from kairana Hukum Singh, who furnished list of 385 people who left the place.
A probe team of the National Human Rights Commission had found that many families “migrated” from Kairana and has directed chief secretary and Director General of Police to submit an action taken report.
The NHRC started the enquiry on a complaint of a Supreme Court lawyer Monika Arora. The enquiry was carried out by a DIG rank officer. During inquiry, the NHRC team visited different places in Kairana town, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, and Panipat in Haryana.
The National Commission for Minorities (NCM), however, has virtually rejected claims that there was large-scale migration of communities, saying there seems to be “no evidence” suggesting exodus of any community from the town of the poll-bound state.
