Rajnath Singh adopts village

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has adopted Beti village in Sarojini Nagar Block under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), BJP leader said.
Party’s state secretary Virendra tiwari told The Pioneer here on Monday that Singh has selected Beti village because of prevailing backwardness in the region.
“The village is just 30 kms from lucknow, still it does not have road, water and electricity. Because this village has mixed population of all castes it does not under any welfare schemes launched by the state government,” Tiwari said. He said after a long deliberation Singh has decided to adopt Beti under SAGY. He said that Beti village would be transformed into a model village and have all amenities including road and water. Efforts would be made to have a PHC in that village so that people do not have to come to Sarojini Nagar for every small ailment.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Hema Malini too has adopted Rawal village in Baldeo block of her Mathura parliamentary constituency under SAGY. The actor-turned-politician has selected the village as it holds significance in Hindu mythology for being goddess Radha’s ‘nanihal’ (maternal home).
‘’I am blessed to get an opportunity to develop the culturally-significant village. I had gone to the village  while canvassing, but wasn’t aware that I would get an opportunity to do so much for the people of Rawal,’’ she said in a statement.
