Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the release of a book celebrating the life and contributions of late Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak Thakur Sankata Prasad, at a special event held here on Saturday where he emphasised his unwavering commitment to following the RSS principles.

The book, titled ‘Karmayogi Sankata Prasad’, sheds light on the remarkable journey of Thakur Sankata Prasad, highlighting his unparalleled dedication and discipline.

Singh expressed his admiration for Sankata Prasad’s selflessness and the sense of belonging that emanated from his strong character.

“Thakur Sankata Prasad was a man of immense heart, and his spirituality extended beyond traditional religious practices,” Singh remarked, highlighting the late pracharak’s compassionate nature.

Singh further said, “I can confidently say that Sankataji will not be reborn; he has attained salvation. He was a devoted RSS volunteer and a dedicated worker for the nation, particularly in the Kisan Sangh. He firmly believed that a happy farmer builds a happy nation and advocated for a significant reduction in agricultural loan interest rates, a suggestion that led to the establishment of the Kisan Call Centre.”

Thakur Sankata Prasad’s concern for the welfare of farmers and his relentless pursuit of fair prices for their produce left an indelible mark.

Rajnath Singh shared a personal anecdote, recalling a visit to Sankata Prasad shortly before his demise in October 2017. Despite his physical frailty, the late RSS pracharak insisted on accompanying Singh to the railway station.

Singh expressed deep respect for the high standards set by Sankata Prasad as a campaigner and worker, affirming that these standards continue to inspire those involved with the farmers union. He praised the late pracharak’s dedication to both agriculture and defence, highlighting his prior role as the agriculture minister and his current position as the defence minister.

Mohini Mohan Mishra, a close associate, described Sankata Prasad as a man with a simple yet resolute personality. “He faced numerous challenges on his path from the RSS to founding the Kisan Sangh. Sankata Prasad’s dedication to addressing the prevailing mindset of farmers resonates with those who knew him,” Mishra said.

Swat Ranjan, RSS’s All-India Intellectual chief, also shared insights into Thakur Sankata Prasad’s legacy, emphasising the profound influence he had on RSS volunteers.

Ranjan described Sankata Prasad as a mentor who cared for volunteers like a mother and had a commanding presence that motivated everyone.

The birth centenary celebration programme of Thakur Sankata Prasad saw the presence of notable figures, including RSS chief karyavah Dattatreya Hosabale, RSS All-India Intellectual chief Swat Ranjan and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh general secretary Mohini Mohan Mishra.
