Union Defence Minister and local MP Rajnath Singh said that the way development work was being carried out across the state, days were not far when Uttar Pradesh would emerge as one of the best states of India.

Singh inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 161 projects worth Rs 187.48 crore in his parliamentary constituency. He also announced that Lucknow will have 5G services soon.

While addressing a gathering, Singh said that many schemes had been launched and foundation stones of many schemes had also been laid and for this the credit went to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“As a local MP, I will try my best to solve problems of my constituency but it would not have been possible without the help of the local government,” he said and added six over bridges had been constructed and as many were in the pipeline.

He said earlier people used to raise questions on the utility of Shaheed Path but now its utility could be understood as vehicles passed through Shaheed Path without entering the city and thus saved the city from traffic jams. He admitted that there was some delay but said with the intervention of the chief minister and the interest shown by PWD minister the work on projects had been expedited,

“We are lucky to have a double engine government that has given wings to the development work. The way development work is being carried out, the day is not far when UP will become the best state in India,” he said.

“The first condition of development is strict law and order, and the way Yogiji has dealt with it is for everyone to see. Secondly, by rooting out corruption, the government is able to instill confidence in the minds of the investors and in turn they are ready to invest in UP,” the defence minister said.

He said, “We want to build a new India. From the point of view of economy, India comes in fifth or sixth place. I admit that there are many countries in the world whose economy is bigger than India’s but I am sure the day is not far when India will stand in the line of top three countries.”

“We used to spend crores on purchasing defence items from other countries, but today the situation has changed. Eight years ago our export was between Rs 800-900 crore, now we have an export target of Rs 13,000 crore and we will achieve this by 2025,” Singh said.

He said India was no longer a weak country. “The surgical strike was a reply to the terrorist attack. We also carried out an air strike inside Pakistan. Today India is capable of protecting its borders. I would like everyone to applaud the valour of the soldiers of our country,” he said.
