BJP ally Suheldo Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief and UP minister Om Prakash Rajbhar on Saturday once again flayed the BJP for flouting Constitutional norms and launching a campaign for Ram temple at Ayodhya. “The Ayodhya issue is pending in the Supreme Court and the dispute could be settled either by a judicial verdict or through a negotiated settlement. Yet, the Sangh parivar and its affiliates are criticising the apex court and even threatening the judiciary,” said the minister. Rajbhar added that the conduct of the RSS, VHP and BJP leaders on the Ayodhya issue had shown that they had little respect and faith in the Constitution and were hence casting aspersions on the judiciary. “It is unfortunate that people, who took oath to protect the Constitution as elected member of Assembly and Parliament, are issuing statements against the judiciary over the delay in the court hearing. Utterances of Sangh parivar leaders is vitiating the harmony and creating communal tension,” the SBSP chief said.
Questioning the timing of raking up Ram temple issue and bringing out Sankalp Yatra on Ayodhya, the minister said: “Why did they not bring out yatras during the past four years. Why were they being taken out just before the elections? I think there is a conspiracy to divide the society on religious and caste lines.”
Rajbhar also questioned the comment on Lord Hanuman by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and questioned: “If Hanuman is a Dalit, which caste did Lord Rama and Vishnu belong to?’’
The SBSP chief also demanded reservation quota for Most Backward Classes and Dalits. “A committee appointed by the state government to look into the matter has already submitted its report and recommended for providing quota within the 27 per cent quota for backwards. But no party is pressing the government to implement it,” Rajbhar said.
