Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for terrorising the people instead of listening to their woes, Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday tried to endear the masses by promising to raise their voice for getting justice.
After meeting party workers and leaders at Munshiganj Guest House on Thursday morning, Rahul later met Angadwadi workers, who have been protesting at the district headquarters for the last 18 days demanding pay hike. Rahul convinced the agitators that he would raise their voice on the floor of the Parliament and get their grievances redressed.
Similarly, the Congress leader also met members of Jagriti Mahila Gram Sanghathan and assured them of help. At Jagdishpur, Rahul also visited a Puja Pandal and offered prayers to Goddess Durga.
later talking to journalists, Rahul attacked the BJP government at the Centre and in the state saying that the two regimes were not ready to look into problems of farmers, unemployed youths or even businessmen.
``It is an irony that the PM of this country was terrorisng the people instead of listening to their problems and doing his best to sort them out,” pointed Rahul while accusing Modi for having no concern for the unemployed youth, farmers and even businesmen who were ending their lives out of desperation.
On the second day of his three-day tour, the Congress MP from Amethi said that Modiji still had more then a year in office so as an Opposition leader, he would appeal him to start looking towards public grievances and try to address them otherwise he should leave and let the Congress fulfill people’s wishes.
Interestingly, Rahul also thanked the Central government for re-inaugurating projects launched by the previous UPA dispensation in his lok Sabha constituency Amethi.
“I am happy to note that our BJP friends are out to re-inaugurate these projects started by us. But I am happy that we initiated these works for the people of Amethi,” Gandhi said. Rahul was seeking to take the wind out of the sails of BJP chief Amit Shah, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union
minister Smriti Irani, who are scheduled to visit Amethi to launch a number of new projects on October 10.
Giving details of the works done by him, the Congress MP mentioned projects like a hospital worth Rs 90 crore, FM radio, Sainik School, Rajiv Gandhi Aviation university at Fursatganj and Institute of Hotel Management. He also named projects like Central School at Jais, Amethi-Uchahar rail line, doubling of Rae Bareli-Amethi rail line, multi-functional complex at railway station, four-laning of lucknow-Sultanpur highway (NH 56), a bypass and six national highways through Amethi.
