State BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said that Rahul Gandhi would have been a better choice as CM candidate for Congress as Sheila Dikshit would not make any impact in UP.
“Congress is trying to fool the people. They know it is the B team to Samajwadi Party. Sheila Dikshit has been made a scapegoat. If the Congress was serious, it should have announced Rahul Gandhi as the CM candidate,” he said while reacting to the Congress decision to project the former Delhi Chief Minister as CM face ahead of the UP polls.
State BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that the announcement will not affect UP’s political scenario. “Sheila Dikshit was Chief Minister of Delhi for three terms and is known as a Delhite. She will not have acceptability in UP,” he said.
Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said that the Congress has a casteist mentality.”To lure Brahmins, they have projected Sheila Dikshit without realising that their this decision will backfire,” he said.
