Punia demands probe by independent agency in Deoria case

Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Caste Pl Punia has demanded a probe by an independent agency in the murder of three girls in Deoria even as police claimed to have solved the case and arrested the main killer. Punia met the kin's of deceased girls and assured all help to the family members. While talking to the reporters in Deoria, Punia, who is also Rajya Sabha member, said that the matter is suspicious and it should be probed by an independent investigative agency as per the will of the kin of the deceased girls. “The family members of the deceased have no faith on the Uttar Pradesh police. They are asking for probe by different agencies and their wishes should be honoured,” he said.

Punia said that he will soon meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and will demand a financial assistance to the family members of the deceased girls. “The family is poor and need help from the government immediately,” he said. Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party Government he said that the law and order condition during Samajwadi Party (SP) government has deteriorated and it seems difficult for the people to get justice from the government.

“People are being killed in court, in offices, in markets and even at their homes. It is the poor section of the society that is facing the brunt of criminal brutality while the police had remained a poor spectator. How can police act against the criminals who are office bearers of ruling Samajwadi Party. The police prefer to remain silent as people are being killed with impunity,”  Punia said. It may be recalled that bodies of three dalit girls were found near the Katiyar village in Deria district on Saturday night. The bodies carried injury marks on the heads. The police have claimed to have solved the case.
