All public transport systems in Uttar Pradesh will now have emergency button and GPRS system to ensure safety of the commuters.
This decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday.
Under this system, electronic fair meter and emergency buttons will be installed in autos.
The Cabinet has approved the decision of the Transport department to float a tender regarding this. The lowest bidder will be asked to install these gadgets in the autos.
Similarly, the Cabinet approved the Government of India project for Security of Women in Road Transport in the country under which GPRS and tracking system will be installed in public transport vehicles.
This scheme is funded under Nirbhaya Fund.
