With pressure mounting on the need to perform, the Yogi Government has issued directives to people’s representatives - party legislators and MPs, to monitor development projects and report their feedback to the party and the government. As of now, the focus is on the region devastated by floods.
Irrigation Minister Dharam Pal Singh said that it was the responsibility of elected representatives to monitor implementation of development schemes.
“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given clear to ensure that benefits of government schemes reached bonafide beneficiaries. In this light, it is the responsibility of the elected representatives to monitor these schemes,” he said.
The minister said that if legislators or MPs register any complaint, these should be seriously looked into and the government would redress them at the earliest.
“The focus of the government is on the flood-affected region where people suffered because of inundation of large swathe of land in east UP. While the government has sent relief material, the legislators should monitor whether this material reached the right people,” Singh said.
The minister said that the CM has made it clear that the government will not tolerate corruption. “The people’s representatives should also report about corrupt practices if observed anywhere in the state,” he said.
“The government’s next priority is to prepare ration cards on which work has already begun. The government wants that ration cards be made for all eligible people in a transparent manner across the state,” Singh said.
Meanwhile, employees of UP Co-operative Bank donated one day’s salary to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood-affected people and a cheque of Rs 13,72,859 was forwarded to the government in this regard.
