A Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) leader in Etawah killed his minor daughter in a suspected case of honour killing and tried to cremate her body to conceal the crime.

However, some neighbours informed the police about it after which the PSPL leader abandoned the body and escaped. The body was later sent for autopsy and efforts were on to track down the suspects.

As per reports, PSPL general secretary of Etawah, Krishna Murari Gupta, used to live with his family near eidgah crossing in Civil Lines police station area. On Thursday evening, his family took his daughter Khushi (15) to district hospital with  gunshot injury but she was pronounced dead.

As it was a medico legal case, the doctors asked Gupta’s family to report the incident to the police. However, the family took the girl’s body without informing the hospital authorities and later tried to cremate it.

Later, Dr Anuj, who had examined the victim, informed the police about the incident.

Meanwhile, some locals also called the police after which a police team rushed to the cremation ground. On seeing the cops, the family members, including Gupta, fled the scene.

The body was later sent for autopsy and forensic experts were contacted to confirm whether it was a case of suicide or murder.
