Protest march against by Congress MLAs against inflation, Covid deaths

Continuing their attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the second day of the monsoon session of the UP Assembly, Congress leaders took out a march from Gandhi Statue to the Vidhan Bhawan in protest against inflation, COVID-19 deaths and on the issue of women's safety.

"The state government has turned a deaf ear to the issues of the common people. If people raise their voices against inflation, unemployment and other issues, the government confiscates their property. We are here to support the common people," said Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader in the assembly, Aradhana Mishra `Mona’.

Saying that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had become insensitive to the problems faced by the people in the state, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Kumar Lallu said that the people of the state were disappointed by the UP government. "We are here to support the unemployed youths, farmers and we will discuss women's safety and inflation," Lallu said, adding that the government had failed on every front and the people were disappointed.

Leader of the Congress in the Legislative Council, Deepak Singh, said that law and order was deteriorating with every passing day and there was complete `jungle raj’ in Uttar Pradesh.

He also highlighted non-payment of dues to the cane growers and said that the Congress was not going to sit silently until the government cleared all the arrears of the farmers.

The monsoon session of the UP Assembly began on Tuesday.
