Priyanka spreading lies, scare: Minister

Reacting to Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s diatribe, the Bharatiya Janata Party came down heavily on her and accused her of unleashing a misinformation campaign against the UP government on panchayat polls.

UP minister and government spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh lashed out at the Congress and held Priyanka responsible for spreading lies and scare. He added that the UP government had maintained all protocols relating to COVID-19 issued by the State Election Commission but the Congress leader has been spreading false information.  Singh slammed the Congress general secretary saying that she had been a habitual liar and scare monger’.

“The Congress leader has become a habitual scare monger and spreading disinformation without checking the Supreme Court’s orders on Panchayat elections counting. Blaming the UP government is her favourite pastime on Twitter,” said the UP  minister on his Twitter handle.

Singh also charged that the single point agenda of Vadra was to defame the government while all her allegations were completely ‘baseless’ and ‘unverified’.

The UP minister also said that the Congress was trying to regain its lost ground by doing petty politics. Congress did nothing for the masses when it was in power. Even now, the Congress is not standing with the government in fighting the pandemic.

Priyanka had alleged that the UP government was playing with the lives of people by conducting Panchayat elections amidst the second Corona wave and the teachers were forced to attend poll duty for the local bodies elections.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court said that there will be no delay in the counting of Panchayat election results in UP. The apex court accepted the assurances of the state government and SEC of making Covid tests mandatory for all candidates and officials at counting centres but warned against holding any victory processions after the announcement of election results.
