Congress general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Dadri in Ghaziabad for a road show and door to door poll campaign on Thursday.

During her road show and door to door campaigning in Dadri area, Priyanka appealed to the public to vote for Congress candidate Deepak Chotiwala.

People lined up on both sides of the road and welcomed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Deepak Chotiwala by showering flowers on them. The Congress leaders participated in the road show from Dadri tehsil to Dadri trisection.

In her brief address, Priyanka assured the people that the Congress was whole-heartedly with them and would do everything possible to help them in their fight.

The Congress leader said that injustice was being brazenly meted out to those buying flats in Noida and Greater Noida.

"For many years they have to live as tenants in their own houses without registration. The fault lies with the builders and the collusion of the administration and builders, but the innocent people have to suffer," she said.

A pink coloured leaflet containing the pledges of Congress named Shakti Samvad, was also distributed on behalf of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The Congress leader is also sending letters to women of Uttar Pradesh, referring to the promises made in the Congress Shakti Samvad.

Later in the day, Priyanka also sought votes for the party's candidate in Sikandrabad assembly constituency by going door to door and meeting the local public. Priyanka also called upon women to come forward to strengthen the hands of Congress.

Talking to media persons during her campaigning , the Congress leader said, ''Polls should be fought on issues of public relevance and development, not on communalism or caste. People in the state want to know what has been done for them. be it about roads or health, or infrastructure. But in Uttar Pradesh, political parties are only interested in talking about caste and religion because they want to win by polarisation."

After campaigning in Sikandrabad, Priyanka left for Jahangirabad in Anupshahr assembly constituency of Bulandshahr. Congress candidate from Bulandshahr Sadar assembly seat, Sushil Chaudhary requested Priyanka to take her convoy through the city, but she refused on the ground that the requisite permission from the authorities was not procured.

Later, the Congress general secretary also visited Dohrau village of Bulandshahr and met the family members of a victim who was gang-raped and murdered recently and the police forced the family to carry out the cremation at night. During her 40-minute stay, the family members of the victim narrated their sordid story. After giving a patient hearing , Priyanka assured the family of all possible help and support in their fight for justice.
