State Congress President, Nirmal Khatri claimed to have started fresh innings with the recent change in Organisation. He said that now the activities which almost came to stand-still will be geared up and a noticeable change should be felt within one month. He also not ruled out possibility of Priyanka Gandhi contesting next Parliament election from the State.
``Due to various reason which I could not share with the media the activities both at the Organisation level and at field level came to stand-still but now with change in leadership at zonal level as well in some districts they will give results which will be felt by everyone within the next one month", disclosed Nirmal Khatri. He also cited that news of abolition of zonal system after Rahul’s last
meeting in March last had also created confusion which paralysed in the function of the Organisation. He was talking to media persons soon after heading a marathon meeting with the newly inducted eight zonal presidents and their deputies along with 31 new district and city unit presidents of the Party, here on Friday evening.
``I admit that performance of the Party was not satisfactory particularly when there are many serious of issues before us to nail down the Samajwadi Party government like on law and order, acute shortage of water and power supply,
wheat procurement and sugarcane purchase etc", claimed Nirmal Khatri while adding that it all depends of how strong organization the Party had in the State. He said that now he clearly directed all the new 31 district level chiefs that they should at earliest (within one month) formed their committees up till the booth, ward, blocks levels as they wanted to strengthen the organization at ground level.
``The need of the hour is to boost up the morale of the Party workers and to give a strong message to them that their each and every activities has been closely monitered by us and in time bound method", lamented State President while disclosing that those working sincerely for strengthening the Organisation will be rewarded with important assignments and those who were just serving their own interest will be punished. The Congress MP from Faizabad claimed that similar instructions were also passed on to eight zonal presidents and they were directed to make review at every fortnight level while over all analysis of the
performance will be assessed at State level every month. He claimed that a mechanism will be developed so the local leaders took up the local issues on their own and there is no need for the state leadership to issue any circular.
About dismal show of Party at field level particularly in taking up public related issues against the Samajwadi Party government, Nirmal Khatri said that it is not just his Party which is lacking behind but the other Parties too failed to
rack up the matter. ``While Bahujan Samaj Party had no agenda of launching agitation in public interest, the two national Parties - Congress and the Bharatiya Janta Party which are not very strong on caste or religion line, were facing problem at Organisation level hence no one had so far come on roads despite of dismal performance of the ruling Samajwadi Party", cited Nirmal Khatri which trying to justify that they were not alone who failed to raise public
issues. However, UPCC president added that this is election year now and they had very little time left to put the Organisation at place but once they will give a new face to it probably by next month end, AICC vice-president, Rahul Gandhi will start a campaign to ensure larger success than what the Party received in last Parliament elections here in the State. When asked if Priyanka will contest next Parliament election, Khatri not ruled out the possibility but said that it is for the Gandhi family to decide on the issue.
