Preparations for the G-20 conference to be held from February to August in Uttar Pradesh have intensified and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives for holding events with the participation of youth and children.
"This year, many important conferences of the Group of 20 leading countries of the world (G-20) are being organised in different cities of the country. Of these, about a dozen programmes are to be organised in Uttar Pradesh," a government spokesman said here on Monday.
In order to increase public participation in the G-20 conference, the chief minister has instructed the officials to work especially on 13 points. These include organising G-20 cleanliness competitions, preparation of squares on the basis of G-20, decoration of monuments on the basis of G-20, book fair, dance, and music programmes, crafts fair, G-20 marathon, G-20 sports leagues, Yoga challenges, thematic seminars, quizzes, essays and slogan writing in colleges and universities. Instructions have been given to promote the events prominently on social media.
The chief minister has directed that children in schools and colleges should be made aware of the G-20 conference in detail and introduced to the growing influence of India at the global level and the objectives of the G-20. Along with this, the children should be inspired to follow ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
The chief minister directed the officials to specially decorate the cities for the G-20 conferences being organised with the motto of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and One Earth, One Family, One Future. He said emphasis should be laid on those cities, where events related to the G-20 conference were to be held.
Moreover, instructions have been given to maintain cleanliness and to beautify places such as Lucknow, Agra, Varanasi, and Greater Noida.
The chief minister has directed officials to display the G-20 logo and motto at a maximum number of places in the cities. Also, the logo and motto displaying the G-20 conference are to be put at places and buildings of historical and cultural importance are to be beautifully decorated. Apart from this, while beautifying government offices, G-20 logos, and flags would be installed. The conferences will be promoted widely through audio-visual mediums at the tourist places located in the cities where the G-20 event is taking place.
In addition, exhibitions will be organised involving local craftsmen and artists, motivating them to create artifacts and crafts based on the G-20 Summit.
