Praveen Azad demands probe by SIT monitored by the Allahabad HC

Casting aspersions on the CBI probe into the lynching of Deputy SP Zia -ul-Haq at Kunda (Pratapgarh) in March 2013, his widow Praveen Azad has demanded a probe by Special Investigation Team (SIT) monitored by the Allahabad High Court.

“I had filed a petition in Allahabad High Court demanding a SIT probe which was rejected due to some technical flaws. But I will again move the HC with a fresh application very soon,” she asserted.

Cabinet minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya had been accused alongwith 13 others in an FIR lodged by Praveen. But after a thorough probe, the CBI gave him the politician a clean chit which irked Praveen.

In an curious turn of events, one of the jailed accused Pawan Yadav in a letter to the CBI had claimed that Raja Bhaiyya was involved in the crime.

Hailing the Special CBI court’s decision on rejecting the closure report by the CBI on Raja Bhaiyya’s role in the murder, Praveen said that the Central agency tried its best to save the powerful minister.

Demanding removal of Raja Bhaiyya from the UP cabinet, Praveen said that no probe can be impartial till he remains a minister.
