Power Minister Shreekant Sharma, and director general of police, Sulkhan Singh, met the traders association in Mathura on Wednesday and assured of forwarding all security to the family members of the victims as well as to other traders.

They also claimed to have given three days times to the police to work out the case. The incharge of the Holygate police outpost along with two constables were also placed under suspension after finding their laxity in the incident.

Both Sharma and Singh reached Mathura on directions of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday and visited the houses of both the victims – Vikas Agarwal and Medh Agarwal and assured on behalf of chief minister that all help will be given to the family. later after meeting the traders association, Sharma informed the media that sleuths of the STF along with cops of Mathura and Agra police are on the job and they will soon arrest the culprits. The incident already rocked in both the Houses of the State Assembly.

It may be mentioned that even after assurance by Yogi of stern action and also directing Sulkhan Singh, to make a personal visit to Mathura to review law and order situation and ensure early arrest of criminals involved in killing of two leading jewelers in the district on Monday night, the agitated traders closed their establishments to protest the sensational killing of their colleagues. They kept the bodies of the victims and staged a huge demonstration on Tuesday afternoon. They accused the law enforcing agencies for failing to initiate any action in the matter and demanded that the accused be arrested soon.

Over half a dozen armed miscreants raided the jewellery shop ``Mayank Chain’’ at Koylewali Gali in Gate Bazar area of Mathura on Monday night. The owner Mayank Agarwal along with his younger brother Vikas Agarwal, were discussing business with another Delhi based jeweler Megh Agarwal, who accompanied one of his gold smith identified as Ashok. The miscreants suddenly opened fire burst critically injured all the four and later taking other staff members at gun point, they looted ornaments and cash all worth several crore of rupees. The miscreants later freely escaped with the booty. The fellow traders who were shocked with the incident rushed to the Agarwal’s shop only to find Vikas Agarwal and Delhi based trader, Megh Agarwal, already dead while they rushed the three injured including Mayank Agarwal and Ashok to nearby hospital where they were battling for their lives.
