The UP government on Thursday issued the notification for the election of the Gram Pradhan and member of Gram Panchayat (village council). The polls will be held in four phases from November 27.
The State Election Commission would issue the notification on November 7. SEC, SK Agarwal said in lucknow that polling will be held in four phases on November 27, December 1, 5 and 9 while the counting will be held onDecember 12. The SEC said that the DMs would issue the notification on November 8 and the Returning Officer would issue the same onNovember 9.
Agaarwal said that the poll will be held for 59,162 village panchayats and 7, 45 lakh members of village panchayat. He said keeping in view the winter setting in by December, the poll panel has suggested to the state government to complete the poll process including the counting by the second week of December.
