Police Directorate or police head-quarter had no records of sanctioned or present strength of the policemen in the State. This sensational fact has been revealed through an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
A local RTI activists claimed that he filed an application under the RTI at DGP office and also at Police Head Quarter in Allahabad, seeking details of the total sanctioned posts of the officers of Indian police Services (IPS) in the State along with that of officers of Provincial Police Services (PPS), inspectors, sub-inspectors, head-constables, constables etc. Similarly, the activists also sought details of how many cops were presently posted against the sanctioned posts and how many posts are lying vacant.
Besides the above, the activists also claimed to have sought the details of data of how many males, females, enuch were in the department along with data of their caste and religion. The said application was filed under the RTI on January 17 last but recently he was shocked after he received an reply from the officers concerned.
The officer informed the RTI activists that the police department had no such records. The activists claimed that it is strange that employer (police Department) had no record of it’s own staff. He further claimed that he got a similar reply to his RTI filed to seek record of how many policemen died in last 10-years, or how many posts were filled during the last one decade.
