PM's rally makes traffic snarl at several parts of the city

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at the Rama Bai sthall on Monday created traffic snarls in some parts of the city with the load of the traffic increasing on certain roads. The most impacted were the PGI crossing and the road leading to the SGPGI apart from the road leading to the Chowdhary Charan Singh Airport.

Traffic officials said that arrangements at the start of the rally were good with the a massive figure of cars parked at the venue in a proper manner yet just as the Prime Minister arrived the huge number of vehicles created snarls. “At the outset problem was faced near the service lane close to the venue where the public had shifted because of the rally. The vehicles on the service lanes where hardly moving at that point of time. The incoming vehicles were so many that there were some buses which were even arriving at the time when the Prime Minister was leaving the venue. We had not estimated that such figures would arrive” he said.

The traffic snarls were also witnessed as soon as the Prime Minister made an exit from the venue. “This was obviously bound to occur because the crowds were stopped for half an hour with the result that the load factor increased on the road leading to the SGPGI” he said.

Problems later arose near the Bangla Bazaar when the Prime Minister moved towards the Airport. “The traffic going towards the Airport was affected and took almost half an hour to clear. Fortunately however the Shaheed Path kept moving even though we had expected that this road would be congested ” he added.
