PM slams opposition for stalling parliament over demonetisation

Calling opposition leaders as a `rejected’ lot Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the people who were discarded by people have held Parliament at `ransom’ and have not allowed discussion on demonetisation because they do not want people should know the truth about demonetisation.

“For last 20 days there is no discussion in Parliament. Government wants discussion on demonetisation. It wants to tell the people why it carried out such a big step … we even want to listen to Opposition suggestions. But the fact is Opposition leaders are not interested in any discussion. They only want to make noise. And that’s what they are doing,” Modi said while addressing Parivartan Rally through mobile on Sunday.

It is probably first time PM has addressed a rally by mobile from lucknow because his chopper failed to land at Nanpara due to dense fog. The chopper made three-four rounds of the rally ground but as the visibility was poor pilots decided to fly back to lucknow.

“Pranam to you all who have come here braving the chilly weather but unfortunately my chopper could not land there and I could not meet you all,” he said as he began addressing the people..

In his short but crisp speech Modi talked about his government’s effort to cleanse the system of black money and corruption. You must have seen that the Government is chasing the people who have stashed black money. I will not spare anyone,” he said adding: “I want discussion on demonetisation in the Parliament but opposition was running away. But I assure you that country will win in the fight against corruption.”

He said honest people should not be afraid of this drive “but corrupt will not be spared.”

“You must have seen as how almost everyday crore of rupees in old and new currencies are been seized. This is the right time to mend yourself as law will not spare you,” PM said issuing warning to the bank managers who are hand in glove in making black into white business.

He said this government is for the poor and those who will harass them would not be spared.

Prime Minister also spoke about prevailing law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh he said was committed to end goonda raj in Uttar Pradesh. “For Uttar Pradesh to progress poverty and ‘goonda raj’ should be be removed “The Congress,SP and BSP are speaking in same voice against demonetisation but we are fighting against corruption,” he said.

PM asked that people to use their mobile phones as a bank to meet their cash requirements to end corruption. “look I am using my mobile phone to talk to you similarly you can use your mobile as bank,” he said.

During the ‘mobile speech’ of the PM all the BJP leaders on the dais kept standing.

Modi who reached lucknow at around 1500 hrs , addressed the rally from the airport and later departed for New Delhi on his special aircraft.
