Terming the Bahriach rally of the prime minister narendra Modi as `flop’ Bahujan Samaj party supremo Mayawati has rejected the prime ministers claim that parties “discarded” by the people have stalled proceedings in both the Houses and he was not being allowed to speak in Parliament.
“Prime ministers claim that he is not allowed to speak in parliament by the opposition so he has chosen to directly speak to the people is like `pot calling the kettle black’. Prime minister by blaming the opposition for the disruption in parliament is running away from his accountability towards the both the houses of parliament’’, said Mayawati in a statement issued on Sunday.
“Narendra Modi is misleading the people by levelling such charges against the opposition parties as the BJP enjoys the clear majority on the floor of the lok Sabha and the lament of the prime minister that he is being prevented by the opposition is not in conformity with the dignity of the office he is holding ‘said Mayawati. She added `` what prime minister said is not a charge against the opposition but an act of self flagellation’’.
Addressing the parivartan rally at Bahriach via mobile phone Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that `` parliament has not been allowed to function for 20 days. We are ready for a debate on demonetisation but we are not being allowed to present our view point by those very parties that have been discarded by the electorate,”
Mayawati said `` its too well known that prime minister has always acted against what he had said or promised and this is evident from the fact that he has not fulfilled even a single promise that he had made to the people during the last lok Sabha elections in 2014’’.
Moreover, BSP chief said `` as the assembly elections are approaching the Union minister have launched a drive for inaugurating and laying the foundation of new projects and making new promises to the people’’. Mayawati added `` none of these projects will ever be completed and promises will never be fulfilled and they will meet the same fate as happened with the promise s made by narendra Modi during the last lok Sabha elections’’.
In her usual diatribe against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Mayawati said `` the parivartan rally at Bahriach and most of the people in rally were hired from neighbouring districts which also included the crowed of ticket seekers’’. She said the turnout of then people was far lower than the expectations of the BJP. Moreover Mayawati said `` prime minister only completed the formality of addressing the rally via mobile phone and there was nothing new in his address and it was repetition of what he has already said in Gujarat on Saturday’’.
Mayawati said the poor turnout in the rally to be addressed by the prime minister indicates that the support base of the BJP in UP has plummeted due to its failure to honour the promise and pursuing the anti people policies. She said this explains as to why the BJP is yet to announce the candidates for the UP assembly elections. She said BJP had finished poor third in last assembly elections in 2012 where the party had polled only 15 percent votes and won only 47 seats in the state assembly.
Reiterating her criticism of the withdrawal of the high value currency not Mayawati said, “The demonetisation move of the government has proved to be a damp squib as the policy has failed in its prime objective of flushing out the black money and has caused huge hardship to the millions of the honest people of the country’’.
