Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Amethi, the parliamentary constituency of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, on March 3.
During his brief visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the new unit of Munshiganj ordnance factory manufacturing assault rifles and later address a public meeting.
Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha polls against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, would be present at the Prime Minister’s programme.
Modi was slated to visit Amethi on February 27, but the visit was postponed and no reason was ascribed for it.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s Amethi unit has been working overtime to woo people to attend the Prime Minister’s rally, which will be an occasion for the party to launch its poll campaign against Rahul Gandhi in his constituency.
