PM, BJP misusing govt machinery: Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati charged the Union government and the BJP with misusing government machinery to target Opposition parties. She even alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ‘crossed all limits’.

“The PM and the BJP are working with parochial mindset. Their sole aim seems to be targeting rival political parties. In this regard, they are blatantly misusing government machinery and crossing all limits,” the BSP chief was quoted as saying in a release issued in lucknow on Tuesday.

Besides Mayawati, who is facing enquiry, her brother Anand, recently inducted into the party as vice-president, is now under the scanner for having connection with tainted NOIDA engineer Yadav Singh and also for depositing huge cash during demonetisation.

Mayawati also accused the BJP government of ignoring the poor, oppressed and members of backward sections of the society.

“The BJP is frequently referring to Bhimrao Ambedkar merely for vote-bank politics and vested interests. But, the followers of Babasaheb are facing injustice,” she claimed.

Mayawati, who met party office-bearers from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, said that people in southern states were also concerned about EVMs. “Since the matter is before the Supreme Court, we expect a just and satisfactory solution,” Mayawati said.
