PM afraid to stand in the Parliament : Rahul Gandhi

Published on:

Congress president Rahul Gandhi launched a frontal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming that the PM was afraid to stand in the Parliament due to several lapses of his government.

“The PM could not stand before me just for 15 minutes in the Parliament. He cannot stand before me on the issue of Rafale deal or over Neerav Modi issue,” Rahul said while addressing a public meeting on the second day of his visit to Amethi on Tuesday. He alleged that the PM gifted Rs 45,000 crore to one of his industrialist friend while a conspiracy was on to grab the HAl.

“The PM promised ‘achche din’ to the people of the country. But actually only 15 people are experiencing ‘achche din’ while others were forced to stand in queues during demonetisation,” he alleged.

The Congress leader lambasted the Centre over the shortage of currency in ATMs and said that when Modiji’s friend Neerav Modi has taken away Rs 30,000 crore then there has to be such currency shortage. Speaking after inaugurating a community hall and other developmental projects at Gajesarpur in Amethi on Tuesday, Gandhi said that the PM claimed that he had a 56-inch chest but unfortunately, the chest does not accommodate the poor and only has love for industrialists. “Modi has ditched the people of the country by not fulfilling their aspirations like giving them jobs. Instead, he is inciting communal and caste clashes in the country. The Congress is fighting against these ideologies and will defeat them at any cost,” he said.

Without taking the name of Union minister Smriti Irani, Rahul said, “Some people are trying to take the benefit of my development works in Amethi. let them take it as I don’t care. I want the area to be developed, not the credit,” he said. “It is clear that the Modi government is helping Neerav Modi and Mallya, who have been involved in huge financial scams. Similarly, in UP, the Yogi government is saving a party MlA in a rape case,” he said. The Congress president further said that the Centre was all about false promises.

He urged  the people not to lose heart over the functioning of the BJP government and asssured that development and welfare programmes would start once the Congress came to power in 2019.

After spending two days in Amethi, Rahul will go to Rae Bareli with his mother and local MP Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday.

Former Congress chief and MP from Rae Bareli, Sonia Gandhi reached Rae Bareli after a long gap on Tuesday evening.

Sonia went to Bheumau Guest House and later inaugurated some projects including the newly constructed building of Indian Medical Association (IMA). She will also visit the house of City Congress chief Sanjay Singh, who died recently in an accident and condole the family. She will also meet newly-elected members of All India Congress Committee and Pradesh Congress Committee from Rae Bareli.

Rahul and Sonia would return together to New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.
