A physically challenged man, Amit Kumar, was arrested for allegedly selling spurious liquor in Lakhimpur Kheri.
Amit of Baslipur village is the sole breadwinner for a family of five. He told the police that as he had not been receiving his disability pension for the last three months, he had been selling liquor, pan masala, balloons and candies on his tricycle to make ends meet. After learning about his condition, the police released him with a warning.
Gola police station SHO Anil Kumar said, “Amit was held with a few pouches of illicit liquor and booked under the Excise Act. We decided to release him after learning of his financial background. We even provided him with some money after he promised that he would not sell liquor again.”
