BSP supremo Mayawati stressed that the people of UP preferred `Ram Rajya’ over the construction of a Ram temple.

"The BJP was trying to create a communal divide by propagating the Ram temple issue while the Samajwadi Party has failed to ensure the rule of law in the state. People here want restorartion of law and order and not construction of Ram templem” asserted Mayawati in a press conference on the occasion of her  60th birthday in lucknow on Friday.

Criticising SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for wasting public funds on birthday celebrations and Saifai Mahatsov even as 50 of the 75 states faced drought, Mayawati said that had Ram Manohar lohia been alive, he would have thrown out Mulayam for working against the Socialist principles.

Mayawati said that the SP government has insulted dalit and backward icons during their regime which is against Socialist ideology. "When our government comes to power, we will enact stringent laws so that no government insults the dalit and backward icons," she said.

She criticised a section of the society and the Opposition for terming her 'daulat ki beti' in place of 'dalit ki beti and claimed that it reflected the anti-dalit and Manuvidi sentiments.

Mayawati also criticised the BJP and PM Narendra Modi for ditching the people by not fulfilling any of their promises made ahead of 2014 lok Sabha polls.

"In the coming elections, people have decided to teach the BJP a lesson for making dalse promises and trying to mislead the people by raking up the Ram temple issue," she said.

She asked party cadres to be aware of the BJP and other parties trying to lure them by promising construction of memorials and museums after Dr BR Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary.

``If BJP really respects Dr Ambedkar, then they should introduce reservation in private sector jobs, pass the act on Reservation in Promotion and include reservation in the ninth schedule of the Constitution," she stated.

Mayawati's address was telecast live in all districts where party workers gathered to celebrate her birthday. Mayawati had asked the workers to help the poor and handicapped on her biurthday terming the day as "Jan Kalyankar Diwas".  She also released  her `blue book' titled, `A travelogue of my struggle-ridden life and BSP movement- Volume 11' and a BSP calendar.
