Hitting out at the SP government over poor law and order situation, the state BJP said that dacoits have started calling the shots in Bundelkhand because the present regime lacks the political will to fight criminals.
“The killing of three people by bandits in Patha are of Bundelkhand is testimony to return of dacoits in the rugged region. They are back in action because of political patronage they are enjoying in UP,” said BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak in a written statement issued in lucknow on Tuesday.
Pathak said that earlier people were dying of hunger and thirst in Bundelkhand, now they face the danger of facing the bullets of brigands. “It is ironical that the state has no will to fight these criminals. The government seems to have bowed down to the terror of these dacoits,” he said.
To buttress his point, Pathak said, "There has been an increase in attacks on policemen. Recently in Bahraich an Inspector was beaten up by a mob. This is because the people who attacked police belonged to ruling party."
"Similarly, incident of animal trafficking is on the rise only because smugglers are getting political patronage. Time has come for the SP government to ensure a semblance of law and order and take action against the criminals," he said.
