Infighting within the Samajwadi Party first family refuses to die even after Election Commission has given its verdict in favor of Akhilesh Yadav when Shivpal Singh Yadav, uncle of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister hinted that nothing has changed in the party and in family.
“Some insiders in the family and party were still trying to break the party which had been built brick by brick by Netaji through his sheer hard work,” Shivpal said while announcing to contest the assembly polls from his traditional Jaswant Nagar seat..
Addressing his supporters in Etawah at the school named after his late father Sudhar Singh, Shivpal said that everyone knows who are responsible for the bitterness in the family and party.” I don’t want to take any name. I just want to contest election with your support. You are the people who had made this party strong,” he said .
He also recalled how Mulayam Singh Yadav faced hardship to form the party when there were no roads and everyone was against him. “Netaji just had a cycle at that time. later someone gifted him a motorcycle. Mulayam gave party a slogan of one vote, one note,” he said.
“Initially I was not interested in contesting the polls this time but as I don’t want to leave the people of Saifai at lurch hence I decided to contest,” he said.
Again without taking any names, Shivpal warned his supporters that there would be conspiracy against him during the elections and they have to be cautious about it.
In a veiled attack on his CM nephew, Shivpal said ,” some person had received everything without doing anything in 2012 assembly polls and now they have money and power to work against me.”
“I had only objected to the illegal works and misrule in the government .But they did not liked me and thus threw me out from the government and the party,” he said. But I will continue to oppose and will not change my ideology. I will continue to work for the people for their betterment, he said.
“People in the state always voted for Netaji and this time too they will vote for him,” he said adding that he was not at all concerned when Netaji was with him.
Refusing that his son Aditya would contest the elections in his place, he asked the people to support him. In 2012 elections Shivpal won the Jaswantnagar seat by a record marging of over 1.33 lakh votes , the highest in the state. He is representing the seat since 1996.
