After Smriti Irani, its the turn of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar who has decided to take the battle to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s camp. Parrikar will be adopting villages in Rahul’s political backyard - Amethi and give him the pinpricks,

As per reportes, the Defence minister will be adopting  Baraulia village of Gauriganj Assembly segment of Amethi, to make appropriate use of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. The village has a mixed population of castes dominated by the backwards.

Amethi district chief of BJP, Duresh Tiwari confirmed the information to the media in Amethi on Saturday. Earlier in December last year, the district unit had sent a list of three villages — Amrauta, Baraulia and Hariharpur for adoption to Parrikar, who is a Rajya Sabha member from UP. But it took around nine months for the Union minister to select one village.

During lok Sabha polls, Parrikar had addressed public meetings at Amrauta and Hariharpur villages in support of his party candidate from Amethi, Smriti Irani. The local unit sent the name of Baraulia as several villagers had lost their properties in a fire in June, 2014 . More than 65 houses were destroyed in the fire, after which Smriti Irani had sent relief material and also visited the village after which local MP Rahul Gandhi too visited the village.
