Pallavi Patel to contest against KP Maurya

Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) leader Pallavi Patel will contest against Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu assembly seat in Kaushambi.

She will, however, contest the elections on the symbol of Samajwadi Party.

Pallavi is the younger sister of Union minister of state and Apna Dal (Sonelal) leader Anupriya Patel.

Leading a faction opposed to her sister, Pallavi is supported by her mother Krishna Patel.

On Monday, Pallavi reached the SP state office in Lucknow and took Form B. She will file her nomination on Tuesday, the last day of filing of papers.

Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife and former MP Dimple Yadav is likely to accompany Pallavi Patel when she files her papers.

Earlier, Pallavi Patel had refused to contest from this seat. Her candidature was announced by the SP on February 2 but she did not agree on the seat. However, after talking to the SP leadership, she agreed to contest from Sirathu.

BJP candidate and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has already filed his nomination papers for this seat.  Election to Sirathu assembly seat will be held in the fifth phase on February 27.
