Owaisi arrives in state on two-day visit

Amidst the hovering threat of communal clashes the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi arrived in UP for a two day visit of eastern UP districts which was marked by the protest demonstrations by the Hindu Yuva Vahini. The vahini is a pocket borough of the Gorakhpur BJP MP Mahant Aditya Nath.

Owaisi was also scheduled to visit Gorakhpur. He however cancelled the visit following the threat of forcibly preventing him from entering the district issued by the Vahini. The MIM MP from Hyderabad arrived here at Amausi airport on Saturday morning and headed straight to Balrampur district and later to Siddarthnagar and Sant kabir Nagar districts.  He was shown black flags by the cadres of the Hindu Yuva vahini in Siddarth nagar and Sant Kabir nagar districts. Many workers of the Vahini were taken into preventive custody by the police. They were later let off after the visit of Owaisi.

Owaisi, who had been denied permission to hold public meetings by the Samajwadi party led state government in last four years, addressed several whistle stop meetings in the three districts. He was accorded a rousing welcome in Itwa and Domariyagang towns of Siddarth nagar where his supporters also indulged in celebratory firing.

Addressing whistle stop meetings in Itwa and Domariyaganj towns of Siddarth Nagar districts Owaisi  targeted the Samajwadi party government alleging that the ``Akhilesh Yadav government has singularly failed in delivering to the muslims what it had promised in 2012 state assembly elections’’.

"SP has not only taken the muslims for a ride but also cheated the community by doing nothing in last more than  four years for giving  reservation in government jobs to the muslims and failing to release the innocent muslim youths languishing in jails on  fake terror charges’’, alleged  Owaisi.

Seeking to shed the Islamist tag on his party, Owaisi said `` His party is not against any caste or religion, we are against only communalism, corruption and inflation which has ruined the lives of millions of people irrespective of their caste and creed.’’.

Training his guns at the BJP, MIM leader said `` the political parties should learn the secularism from the muslims. The so called peace loving ruling party of India is destroying the social fabric of the nation for its narrow political ends and misleading the people by floating one populist slogan after another’’.  Urging the muslims to go for higher education he said `` prepare yourself to migrate to any part of the globe for getting  higher education and this is the only solution to most of the problems of the community’’. Owaisi himself is a law graduate from Oxford University.

Meanwhile the state in charge of the Hindu Yuva vahini Raghvendra Singh said that his organisation would continue to stage protest demonstration wherever Owaisi goes in the state. ``We are not against any individual or party but his  anti national stance over host of issues including the  chanting of Bharat mata Ki jai’’, said the vahini leader.

Haji  Ali Ahmed, in charge of the eastern UP of MIM  said `` BJP , Hindu Yuva Vahini or any other organisation cannot prevent us from carrying legitimate political activity as it’s our fundamental right’’. He added `` the BJP is perturbed as it perceives MIM as a threat to itself over the announcement of Mirza Dilshad Beg as the MIM candidate from Gorakhpur (rural) assembly seat. The seat has sizeable population of voters from the minority and dalit community’’. The seat was won by Vijay Bahadur Yadav of the BJP in 2012 assembly elections.
