Emerging successful in the fight against COVID-19, the state of Uttar Pradesh on October 8 crossed a significant landmark of administering more than nine crore first doses of Covid vaccine, giving the first dose to more than 60 per cent of the eligible adult population.

Over 2,35,24,757 crore people in the state have been fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 40 districts have become coronavirus- free with active as well as fresh COVID-19 cases declining to zero. The drop in fresh and active cases in Aligarh, Amethi, Amroha, Azamgarh, Budaun, Baghpat, Ballia, Balrampur, Basti, Bahraich, Bhadohi, Deoria, Etah, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Kushinagar, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Lalitpur, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Mathura, Mau, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Rae Bareli, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shravasti, Sitapur, Sultanpur, Unnao and Varanasi indicates complete eradication of novel coronavirus from over 53 per cent of the state.

“With highest testing, highest recovery rate, lowest test positivity rate, and aggressive vaccination, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a clear winner in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus as the state’s COVID-19 situation shows a healthier picture in comparison to all other states,” an official said.

He said indicating that the dangerous virus was receding from the state, as many as 66 districts reported no fresh case of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours.

The state reported 11 fresh coronavirus positive cases while 18 COVID-19 patients recovered.

In another significant development, the active caseload in the most populous state, which was at a high of 3,10,783 in April, has been reduced to 145 now. The transmission level in the state has been brought down by restricting fresh cases below 50 for over eight weeks.

Adopting measures such as the aggressive 'Trace, Test & Treat' and prevention through vaccination and partial Covid curfews to eradicate the pandemic, the UP government has left no stone unturned to minimise its devastating impact, as a result of which the positivity rate has slumped to lower than 0.01 per cent.
