Under the apprenticeship training scheme, the government plans to connect over 50,000 youth with the employment opportunities and for this a directive has been issued to officials at the district level to register youth for this programme.
Additional Chief Secretary (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Navneet Sehgal said that the apprenticeship training scheme was a scheme of the Government of India and Uttar Pradesh government under which it was mandatory to enroll 2.5 per cent apprentices in industrial units with more than 30 workers.
For the apprentices, the government has also provided an incentive of Rs 2,500 per beneficiary.
The additional chief secretary directed officials to register youth under this scheme by setting up camps in the entire state. Participation of the industries association should also be ensured, he said.
Sehgal was conducting a virtual review of the apprenticeship training scheme for the youth in his office hall at Lok Bhawan on Wednesday.
He said that a grant incentive of Rs 1,500 per person would be given by the Government of India and an additional Rs 1,000 per beneficiary would be given by the state government.
"In this financial year there is a goal of connecting 50,000 youths with employment and this goal will have to be achieved at all cost," he said and added that instructions had been issued to district officials to register maximum number of youth for apprenticeship in their respective districts.
Sehgal said that this year 13 lakh units had been financed by banks and they had created a large number of jobs. "The youths getting training in these industrial units would easily get jobs," he said.
During the review, Joint Commissioner of Industries Pawan Agarwal, Sunil Kumar and district industries officers of all the districts were virtually connected.
