Welcoming the High Court decision of ordering a CBI probe into the Bulandshahar highway gangrape, state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the order is a slap on the face of the ruling Samajwadi Party as it was avoiding a thorough probe into the matter.
“The High Court has shown Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav his place by ordering a CBI probe into the gruesome case. Police investigation was always in doubt because a senior minister in the SP government had termed it as a political conspiracy against state government,” Maurya said in a statement issued in lucknow on Friday.
Afterhearing a Public Interest litigation (PIl), the Allahabad High Court on Friday ordered a CBI probe into the gangrape of a mother and her minor daughter on National Highway 91 in Bulandshahar. A bench consisting of Chief Justice DB Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Verma was not satisfied with the report submitted by SP Bulandshahar and stressed that even a single day’s delay in sending the case to CBI for probe would be harmful for the victims.
Maurya said that BJP has been demanding a CBI probe since day one. “The High Court has upheld our line of thinking. The judges too were not satisfied with the style of probe by the UP Police,” he said.
Reacting to the murderous attack on BJP leader Brijlal Teotia in Ghaziabad, Maurya said that the use of sophisticated assault rifles like AK-47 proves that ‘jungle raj’ prevails in UP.
“The criminals are challenging the state almost everyday but this government remains a mute spectator,” he said.
“The agony is that the Chief Minister holds the portfolio of Home department, but has been unable to bring law and order under control. If he is not able to control crime, Akhilesh Yadav should resign,” he said
