The Mukhyamantri Arogya Melas have been a grand success story in the last more than two years as a total of one crore patients suffering from various ailments have been treated in these health camps organised at every primary health centre (PHC) in the state.

“As many as 1.53 lakh people were referred to higher medical centres for further treatment from the Arogya Melas conducted by the state government in association with the Indian Medical Association. Besides, 8.73 lakh golden cards have been distributed in these melas so far,” a government spokesman said, adding that the data clearly reflected the popularity of these health camps among the public.

Chairing a high-level meeting with the officials on Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the Mukhyamantri Arogya Melas aimed to provide the best treatment and health services to the people at the rural level and were serving their purpose. He said efforts should be made to benefit more people by these melas organised at the PHCs.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had launched the statewide Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Mela on February 2, 2020 in Chandauli district. The programme aims at making people aware of the schemes being run by the Health department and providing them health services in their vicinity along with distributing Golden Health cards and other benefits.

The fourth Arogya Mela of the fourth phase was organised with full Covid protocol. All the patients and their accompanying relatives were informed that facilities for testing and treatment of coronavirus infection were also available in the hospitals.

In the 42nd Arogya Mela organised on May 1, as many as 1.63 lakh patients —65,552 men, 72,267 women and 25,889 children — were treated by specialist doctors and paramedics. Also, as many as 1,383 serious patients were referred to bigger hospitals. As many as 6,488 Golden Cards were also distributed. In addition to this, more than 7,051 doctors, 23,198 paramedics offered services at these melas organised across the state.

An appeal was made to the people through loudspeakers that in case of complaints of fever, cough, cold and shortness of breath, they should immediately contact the nearest Mera Covid Kendra for immediate diagnosis and treatment.

In view of the summer season, instructions have been given to ensure proper availability of clean drinking water for people coming to Arogya Melas in all primary health centres.
