With the Yogi Government earmarking Rs 36,000 crores in the state budget to clear farm loans, directives have been issued to the district officials to make preparations to clear dues of bonafide farmers from the next month.

A senior official told 'The Pioneer' that Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates have been asked to make preparations to clear the crop loans at the earliest. The banks have been asked to get the list of farmers approved by the district administration.

“District officials will be responsible for disbursement of loan amount in a transparent manner. The money will directly debited to the bank account for that the beneficiary farmers should have their KYC cleared by the concerned bank,” the official said.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed DMs and Commissioners through video conferencing to make preparations for disbursement of loan amount. The SDMs have been asked to head a committee that would work with local banks in tandem. District officials have been asked to complete all preparations within next 10 days.

The official said that the budget will be passed by Assembly on July 28 and by first week of August, the process of clearing dues would start.

Crop loan waiver was the biggest poll promise of Bharatiya Janata Party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared that the BJP government will announce loan waiver scheme in its first cabinet meeting. On April 4, the Yogi government took the decision of loan waiver which would benefit over 86 lakh farmers.
