With BJP leadership trying to bolster its image through `Gram Chaupal’ mass contact programme party law makers are out to create trouble for the party as a MlA from Ballia equated officers wilt prostitutes saying prostitutes are better than officers.
BJP MlA from Beria in Ballia district Surendra Singh, while addressing a public meeting said that the officers in Uttar Pradesh are still taking bribe. “This is unfortunate but true that prostitutes are better than officers in UP. The prostitutes take money and do whatever their clients ask them to do but in UP officers take money (bribe) and there is no guarantee that they will do the work for which they have taken money,” the BJP MlA said.
He even asked the people to record the conversation if officers ask for bribe. Bring that audio to me and if I find it correct I will beat that said officer with sandals, the MlA said.
The BJP has distanced itself from the MlA’s officer-prostitute remark saying that party does not ascribe to such statement.
This is not the first time BJP law makers has courted controversy. Earlier a case was lodged against his nephew who beat up a kanungo in Ballia district.
Earlier, Singh had blasted Chief Minister and party leadership for the defeat BJP had suffered in the bye-elections of Kairana and Noorpur. He had said that the entire government was involved in corrupt practices and the people are not getting the benefit of the welfare schemes. The people did not vote for the government because they were angry with the working of the officers.
He had evens aid that CM should take responsibility of the defeat. “It is true that PM did not campaign in the bye-elections. But CM addressed two rallies. Thus, CM should take the blame,” he said adding that such defeats have strengthened opposition which has now ganged up against Prime Minister Modi.
Such statements of ruling party law makers have gladdened opposition leaders as SP national president Akhilesh Yadav said that BJP MlAs are doing opposition role. “This is wake up call for the CM as his own MlAs are saying this government is corrupt,” he said.
