In a major twist in the on-going probe against mining minister Gyatri Prajapati, the charges that the Samajwadi Party leaders had made huge wealth seems to have fallen flat when social activist, Nutan Thakur, failed to give any concrete evidence regarding minister’s assets while a witness summoned on her advise also went against her.
Sources said that Nutan Thakur, who appeared before lokayukta, Justice (retd) NK Mehrotra, on Friday morning, claimed that she had no evidences with her regarding the assets of Gyatri and the properties mentioned in her affidavit were based on the information which she get from Mahendra Kumar. She also added that Kumar could give detail information about assets mentioned by her. However, much to shock of Nutan, Mahendra Kumar, not just denied of having any knowledge about Gyatri’s assets but even went to claim that he not knew Nutan nor he ever talked to her or provided any details on Gyatri’s wealth.
Besides the above, eight more witnesses, which included Hanuman, Sheila Gautam, Dharmendra Prasad, Sangeeta Singh, Sita, Suman Devi, Ram lakhan, lal Babu etc also turned up before Mehrotra on Friday but they all refused to be knowing Gyatri Prajapati. Interestingly, besides showing their ignorance on Gyatri, all witnesses made similar statements that the properties about which enquiry has been made from them, has been purchased with the money which they earned through sale of their other properties. All claimed that the land was purchased by them for farming. Sources said that Mehrotra would now examine fresh affidavits and documents before making any head way on charges against Gyatri Prajapati that he made huge wealth through dubious means and illegal mining.
It may be mentioned that had served notice to Nutan Thakur, directing her to appear before him on Friday and gave details of the properties which she claimed through her affidavit that the assets were owned by mining minister, his family members or his close associates. He also served similar summon to one Mahendra Kumar, a native of Amethi, whom Nutan claimed to be witness in the case who had full information about the properties mentioned by her the affidavit. The summon was served as the state ombudsman wanted to extract details of the properties which Nutan claimed to be owned by Gyatri Prajapati, his kins or associates as she not cited any details which could helped lokayukata to pin-point the property like the evidences regarding it’s owner, or who invested money in the property etc should be collected from the authorities concerned.
On last Tuesday, Nutan Thakur, claimed to have provided full details of property owned by Prajapati, and his family members or close associates, to lokayukata. She asked Mehrotra to expedite the investigation against the mining minister and also to summon some of witnesses who could provide important clues regarding how Gyatri Prajapati and his henchmen had earned huge wealth through illegal mining in the State. Nutan claimed that she gave property details of Mining Minister Gyatri Prajapati, his wife Maharaji, daughters Sudha and Ankita (village Parsawa), sons Anurag (Dilkusha road) and Anil (Indrajeet Kheda, Amethi). He said that the properties were allegedly brought after October 2013 pointing that they were probably made by income through illegal mining.
She claimed that in addition to the above properties, she also gave examples of life Cure Medical Center (Pratapgarh, Amethi), Shubhang Exports limited (Amethi, Indrajeet Kheda)and Decent constructions (Indrajeet Kheda), having Gyatri’s son with Anil as director. Besides, Dr Thakur has also presented 7 properties of Prajapati’s associates, Devatadeen at Mahmudpur and 15 properties of his official driver Ramraj and 10 properties of private driver Ram Sahai. She presented facts about Prajapati’s three brothers Jagdish, Chediram and Sriram being beneficiaries of Antyoday Yojana and he and his brothers being in BPl list. Dr Thakur also gave Prajapati’s form submitted in 2012 in Amethi Assembly where his wife and children were shown to have zero Income tax return and very few properties belonged to his family.
