Election Commission of India on Tuesday issued notification for biennial elections for 11 seats of Rajya Sabha and 13 seats of legislative Council in UP. However, on the first day, no nomination paper was filed.
The polling, if required, will be held for Council on June 10 and for Rajya Sabha on June 11.
Though chances of polling are remote yet there can be a twist as this will be the last polls for RS and Council before the 2017 Assembly polls.
Principal Secretary (Assembly) and returning officer for the elections Pradeep Kumar Dubey said that nominations for both RS and Council seats would continue till May 31 and papers would be scrutinised the next day. Candidates can withdraw papers till June 3.
