Nothing new and promises made by BJP ignored : Opposition

While the ruling BJP hailed the first budget of the Yogi Aditynath government terming it ‘a game changer’ the Opposition parties bared their fangs saying that it had nothing new and most of the promises made by the BJP during poll were ignored. State BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in lucknow that the budget proposals of the Yogi government were people-oriented and it took care of every sector. “This is probably the first time in over a decade when no appeasement scheme has been launched by the state government. Thge Government is working on the principles of `Sabka saath, sabka vikas’ which is reflected in the budget as all sections of society, even minorities, have got their share,” he said.

Pathak said that the Government has implemented crop loan waiver scheme and budgetary allocations in most infrastructure schemes have been enhanced. However, Opposition leaders did not seem enthused with the budget saying that there was nothing new in it. SP leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ram Govind Chaudhary said that all schemes of the previous Akhilesh Yadav government was re-introduced with new names. The party slammed the BJP regime for scrapping Samajwadi Pension scheme. “Most of the Centre’s schemes have been adopted by this government which proves that it is an extension of the Narendra Modi government,” Chaudhary said. BSP leader in the Assembly lalji Verma said that the Yogi government had made tall claims during elections but it has failed to deliver.  “There is nothing new in the budget about which people could rejoice. The Government has failed to carry out financial management and for this, the people will have to bear the brunt,” Verma said. Congress leader in the Assembly Ajay Kumar lallu also criticised the budget saying that  it had failed to live up to the expectations of the people of the state.” There is nothing new in it and the BJP government ignored most promises made during the Assembly poll campaign,” he said.
