The Bhartiya Janata Party has termed the 10-point Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the Samajwadi Party and Congress as an effort to cover up their differences.
“There is nothing common between the SP and Congress. This has been proved in the list of candidates. Both parties have fielded candidates in over a dozen Assembly segments,” said state BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak in lucknow on Saturday.
Commenting on the CMP released by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and SP president Akhilesh Yadav at a joint press conference in lucknow on Saturday, Pathak said that this was an opportunistic alliance devoid of any ideological basis.
“Two discredited leaders have joined hands in a desperate bid to grab power in the state when everyone knows that the SP government has failed to deliver in the last five years,” said Pathak.
The BJP leader further said, “Both parties are symbol of corruption, loot and plunder of public money. Congress has done it at the Centre for decades while SP has done it in UP. People have already dismissed this alliance.”
Pathak went on to point out that the Chief Minister was promising what the party would do if voted to power but is conspicuous by his silence on crime and criminals, who ruled the roost during his five year regime in UP.
“The SP government not only patronised criminals, it also aided and abetted corruption in appointments and development. In several cases, High Court and Supreme Court intervened and ordered CBI inquiry particularly in the case of Chief Engineer of NOIDA Yadav Singh,” alleged Pathak.
