There is a good news for boozers as Government has no proposal to impose prohibition in the state. The state government informed the state assembly that it has no proposal to enact total prohibition in the state “as it is not possible because of public interest and fear of loss of revenue generation”.
While replying to a question of Dr Dharampal Singh (BSP) State PWD minister Shiv Pal Singh Yadav said that total ban on liquor sale in the state would promote smuggling of the same and would also lead to increase in supply of hooch.
“Ban on liquor could also lead to people purchasing hooch in which several people could die,’ the Minister said and added that the revenue collected through the taxes imposed on liquors is being used for public welfare and developmental works. He, however, said that several awareness programme is being organised in the state for prohibition.
