Indicating a thaw in relations with nephew Akhilesh, senior Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav said that the family and the party should stand united as the time had come to defeat communal forces like Bharatiya Janata Party. He also ruled out forming a new party – an idea which he had mooted earlier.
Shivpal told reporters in Sambhal that he was still a legislator from Samajwadi Party and would continue to be in the party even as he has not been given any post. “There is no need to form a new party. The need of the hour is that the party as well as the family stood united so that we can defeat communal forces,” he said.
This statement was music to the ears of party workers as it was for the first time that Shivpal Singh Yadav softened his stand against Akhilesh.
During Diwali, all big three of Samajwadi Party – Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shivpal and Akhilesh – assembled at Saifai indicating that the ice had started melting.
Yadav said that the SP could have formed government and Akhilesh Yadav would have become Chief Minister again if the party and the family had presented a united face.
“But it happened due to some unavoidable situations. But such things happen in all families. There is nothing new,“ he said.
