Feigning ignorance about senior Samajwadi Party leaders scouting for alliance partners for the forthcoming polls, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that a call on this issue would be taken by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.
“I don’t know about the talks underway with the parties and have nothing to say on this,” he told reporters on board the Samajwadi Vikas Rath, before it developed a snag after traversing barely a kilometre on Thursday.
Yadav said: “Believe me, I have no idea as to who is talking to whom and why. I even donot know who will get how many seats if Samajwadi Party enters into an alliance”
The statement came at the backdrop of a move to form a grand alliance with `like-minded parties’ like Congress, Janata Dal (U) and RlD. Reports suggest that Congress strategist Prashant Kishore had a meeting with Mulayam Singh Yadav in New Delhi at the insistence of Amar Singh.
When asked whether the family feud had damaged the party’s prospects, the CM made it clear that though his Yatra has been delayed by almost a month, now he would go to the people seeking their support.
“Jab hum janta ke beech jayenge to ye sab vivaad khatam ho jayenge. The workers and the leaders would be one and they will work unitedly to ensure SP’s victory in elections,” the CM said.
Expressing confidence that the people will again support the SP in the coming Assembly polls, Yadav said thatpeople always support those who worked for them and fulfilled all the promises made.
“We have fulfilled all the promises made during last elections. Janta usi ke paksh mei jaati hai jisne kaam kiya hai. Pichli baar jo humne vaade kare, wo poore kiye humne “ he said.
Yadav further said that Muslims would vote for SP en-mass as they will always support a secular party and Mulayam Singh Yadav has never ditched the community.
Yadav also denied having a rift with anyone. “No one is angry with me nor I am angry with anyone,” he said.
The CM said though his uncle Ram Gopal Yadav and Minority Welfare minister Mohammad Azam Khan were not present in this function, their blessings were with him.
