In yet another success in the fight against COVID-19, the number of active cases in Uttar Pradesh has come down to 250, a decrease of 99 per cent since April 30 when the state recorded 3.10 lakh COVID-19 cases, its highest till date.
“Using a multi-level approach that included ‘Trace, Test and Treat’, extensive vaccination drives and partial curfews in vulnerable areas, the state government did an exceptional job to bring down the positivity rate to 0.01 per cent, the lowest in the country at present,” said a government spokesman in Lucknow on Saturday.
Uttar Pradesh tested a total of 2.31 lakh samples in the past 24 hours, out of which only 30 were found positive. Meanwhile, a total of 15 COVID-19 patients fully recovered from the deadly infection.
"When less populous states of the country have been marred by the third wave of COVID-19 and are recording as many as 2,000 to 22,000 cases on a daily basis, Uttar Pradesh has managed to restrict the daily positive cases to as low as 100 for more than 50 days in a row," the spokesman said.
The active and fresh cases have dipped to zero in Aligarh, Amethi, Amroha, Ayodhya, Baghpat, Ballia, Banda, Basti, Bijnor, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Hathras, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Rampur, Shamli and Sitapur districts.
In another big relief, no district of Uttar Pradesh has reported fresh COVID-19 cases in double digits lately. Giving signs that the dangerous virus is receding from the state, as many as 63 districts have reported no fresh positive case in the last 24 hours, whereas 12 districts have reported new cases in single digit.
